Neighborhood Watch is beginning its seventh year in our community! Hats Off to our forty-one Block Captains who volunteer to keep us informed.
Please let us know if you are not getting the periodic Crime Update emails which are circulated when we have information about crime trends. Together, we can keep our families safe and our properties secure!
Watch the construction of the Highlands Ranch Sheriff’s Office Substation, east of the Highlands Ranch Town Center complex, which will be a wonderful resource for our community.
Accomplishments of Your Neighborhood Watch: Great Job Block Captains!
- Closer connections with the Sheriff’s Office on some neighborhood incidents where we conducted “stand up meetings” with deputies at the site for more clarification;
- Information recognition by the Sheriff who repeatedly mentions our community at public meetings to emphasize the power of citizens to avert crime;
- A dedicated Neighborhood Watch page on the HRGCA website at www.hrgchoa.com to communicate with the neighborhood on a timely basis about issues in our community and upcoming meetings or events;
- The Fourth Annual HRGCA Community Neighborhood Watch Evening Presentation held last spring, featuring the Douglas County Sheriff, Deputies and the Eighteenth Judicial staff to discuss crime prevention and consumer tips;
Attendance of the HRGCA Block Captains at the Annual Spring Training at the Lincoln substation;
- The increased efforts to welcome new residents to the community and collect their email addresses to widen our network of Neighborhood Watch participants.
- Reporting of suspicious activity immediately to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office or to the Neighborhood Watch Chair or Block Captain. No call is viewed as unimportant.
